gasket是指通过形成密封面来密封两个平面的橡胶、纤维强化橡胶、纤维橡胶材料、柔性石墨等材料制作的平的物体。也有金属-纤维复合材料或者全部为金属制作的。O型圈尽管不是平面状的，也可以认为是一中gasket.
Washers - Round, flat rings used as spacers, gaskets or slip devices under the head of a bolt.
washer 是平的用在螺栓下面的垫圈。

因此前者范围较广，有着主要应用在紧固螺栓上的垫圈
